When will HausCall launch?
We are currently in our BETA testing phase. If you are a barber and interested in participating, please sign up through the website. If you want to sign up to participate on the consumer side, please email email@example.com.
Where will HausCall be available?
We will launch in DC and expand to major areas like NYC, Atlanta and Charlotte by 2019.
So, is HausCall like Uber for haircuts?
We don’t like to compare HausCall to Uber. Yes, HausCall is an on-demand service that allows users to request someone come to their exact location, but what sets us apart is that we are tapping into the needs of men of color and men with different hair textures.
Right now you see apps like Squire or LookBooker that allow you to choose a salon or barber shop in your area and pay before you get there, but these apps don’t come to you. Additionally, apps like Priv and Shortcut fulfill these on-the-go demands but don’t market their services to African-American men and other men of color.
HausCall will pick up where these companies left off.
Is there really any money in this type of service?
Totally. Men’s grooming sales reached more than $6.3 billion in 2014 (with shaving and toiletries leading the way), and the African-American hair care industry alone is expected to gross more than $700 million by 2017. On an international scale, men's grooming has grown to become a multi-billion-dollar industry with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
“I’m not a man of color. Can I get my hair cut too?”
We can cut your hair. We can cut all hair! While “men of color” does refer to men of African, Asian, Indian and Hispanic heritages and this is our area of focus, please understand, no one is excluded. We'll be sure to let you know when HausCall is available in your area. Thank you for your continued support!
What is the average seat time?
The barber should also take no more than 20-30 minutes to arrive and one hour to complete the service.
